Souad's mother is here to help with the arrival of our second daughter. Of course, since her arrival, the dominant language in our house has changed from French to Arabic.
It came as something of a surprise, yesterday, when Souad & I realised that Lilia is definitely more fluent in German & English than in French or Arabic.
We think this is due to the fact that Souad mixes French & Arabic, while Lilia's sources for German and English are exclusive sources: I do not speak English with her usually, and the people at pre-school certainly do not speak German.
Sounds like an indicator that "one language per person" seems to be the best way, doesn't it?
